Tonight, I am very happy with myself. When I was first approached about doing a “Blast Off to School” back to school event, a song came to mind. Do you remember FFH? Well they did a song called “Astronaut”. I’m about to play that for a room full of unsuspecting victims. Victims of great humor that is!!!
Good morning one and all! I have had one of those mornings that every blogger/internet user adores: I wrote this comfortably long, well worded, excellent post this morning and in the process of posting it…it all disappeared.
So there’s that.
Basically, all I had to say was this: today, I have my first event as a Christian speaker. Now, if you’ve ever seen me do music, you know that I usually plan some sort of short devotional during my performance and share that with the audience. However, today…I’m not even taking my guitar. What is that madness? And why am I so excited about it?!?
I’m speaking on the power of using the names of God in prayer. I’ll share more with you later today. However, if your interest is peaked, I would encourage you to go to the website of Ann Spangler who has written several different books on the names of God. On her website you will find a free resource called “Ten Names of God“. This is a great place to get started learning some of the amazing things our God is called!
Pray for God’s will to be done as I speak this morning. My prayer will be the prayer of a great man of God I admire, Father Mychal Judge:
“Lord take me where You want me to go,
let me meet who You want me to meet,
tell me what You want me to say,
and keep me out of Your way.”
Love each other.
So…big news for me as I prepare to perform again at Mayfest in Pilot Mountain this year!!! I’m very excited! Mayfest has quickly become one of my favorite street fairs and I look forward to it every year! My first time performing at Mayfest was 2009. I always perform on Sunday, and it is always Mother’s Day. So In May of 2009 I was a freshman at Appalachian and I went to all the girls on my floor asking them about their moms. I took everything they said and wrote a special Mother’s Day song that I do each year at the festival. It’s a great time. Since my ministry is maturing and expanding, some new things will be happening during my set this year! For more about that…you’ll have to check out our Facebook page! 🙂 There is an event page for this performance and I’ll be posting fun facts and information about this performance regularly! Look forward to seeing you there!
(As a side note, remember to check the bottom of my website for recent Facebook posts, and more importantly a count down for any big events coming up! You can find these on any page of the site. Scroll down and check it out!)
Next Saturday, Feb. 23rd, I’m doing my first “Big Gig” as a “worship leader”. I’ve never done a show before where I did less original music than I did other people’s music. I’m really nervous but exceptionally excited about it! I’ve written two songs specifically for the event and then a third song that I wrote was really put on my heart when I first found out about it. It’s all about being comfortable or…content with who God made you to be and where He put you. As soon as I found out about the possibility I could be doing this, this particular song was laid on my heart and I couldn’t WAIT to find out why! When we really talked about the retreat…it turns out that the theme is: contentment.
My God works in WONDERFULLY mysterious ways!
