“Small Town Savior”

The church I’m going to and playing at was having a Christmas soiree and I was asked to perform.  I had a GREAT idea for a real upbeat piece of music and I was working on it.  One morning though, I got up and was doing my daily Christmas devotional.  A new one called “The Greatest Gift” by Ann Voskamp.  If you’ve never read anything by Ann, you should definitely check out her blog “A Holy Experience“.   I don’t remember exactly which day it was…but I was astounded by the idea that my savior didn’t grow up in a big city.

You know those parts of the Christmas story?  Those parts you hear every year but that you never really think about?  Mary was Jesus’ mother.  His virgin mother.  There was a new star.  Over the exact spot where Christ was born.  Christ was born.  In a small town.

I hope you enjoy this song.  And I hope it reminds you about our Small Town Savior.

Merry Christmas!
